The Last Story of David Allan

SYNOPSIS:

On January 23RD, 2009 the body of William Hutchinson was discovered in his shaker heights home. Shaker Heights is an affluent suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, and William Hutchinson was one of Cleveland’s City Council Members. Ten days earlier, David Allan had read about blunt force trauma in a medical book at the Cleveland public library. Allan was never arrested or charged with this murder. Nor was he charged with, as he confesses to, another eight murders he committed from the Fall of 2008 to the Spring of 2009.

The Last Story of David Allan begins on the eve of what should be David Allan’s tenth murder. Reluctant to reveal too much about himself, or who he works for, David brings us into the world by observing the human behavior around him. And, in a bathroom stall of a local nightclub, he gets the name of what will become his final hit. An etching amid graffiti, “Justin Kantner – Taurus” sets in motion David’s remaining twenty-four hours as a hit man.

He doesn’t assume May 10th, 2009 will be any different than any of the other day’s he took a human life, so on the night of May 9th, he goes to a hotel, made famous by whispers of it being a place crowded with prostitutes, in order to see a working girl acquire a John. Instead, David Allan experiences, what he describes, as an influx of the norepinephrine chemical in his system, (what layman call “instant attraction”) to a lonely traveler named Rebecca.

Harmless flirting, and witty conversation, lead David and Rebecca up to an executive suite at the hotel where they spend the night talking during their breaks of lovemaking.

The next morning, Justin Kantner, a day-job working stage actor, wakes up outside of his apartment door covered in bruises, and sitting on a briefcase that isn’t his. He tries to piece together his night prior in his mind, but can’t. A note from his girlfriend informs him that people were looking for him all night. He decides to take the briefcase to his friend Dash’s house, in hopes that his friend can make sense of the six digit combination which locks it.

David trails Justin, constantly getting distracted by wayward thoughts of Rebecca. All the while, Rebecca is piecing together things that David told her about his life in hopes to find Justin in time, and possibly stop the man from being murdered. But, does she really believe the man she spent the night with is a killer? And if so, who is paying him to kill?

Each character is trying to piece together their previous night before it’s too late.

The Last Story of David Allan is a complex thriller where Truth is just another thing that can kill you.
